3 Read the following example, and then in pairs or small groups, talk about black holes and decide if it is a myth or a fact.
Example dialog — Ministry book
Student A: I heard black holes swallow everything in space. Is that true?
Student B: That's a myth! They only pull in things that get very close. For example, if the Sun became a black hole, Earth would stay in orbit.
Student A: Oh, I see. So, they're like vacuum cleaners?
Student B: Exactly!
Exercise 4
4 Now, switch roles and try another myth.

Myth Examples — Ministry book

  • Black holes can swallow the whole galaxy.
  • We can see black holes directly with telescopes.
  • Black holes are dark, so they don't give off any energy.
  • If a star turns into a black hole, it becomes stronger and pulls harder.

In pairs, pick one myth above. Student A states the myth as a question; Student B explains whether it is myth or fact with evidence from the broadcast.

Choose the correct form (infinitive or gerund).
