The Causative — Ministry book p. 74–75
We use the verbs have / get when we arrange for someone else to do something for us, rather than doing it ourselves. It shows that we cause the action to happen, but we are not the ones doing it.
Active Causative
- have + person + inf.
I had a mechanic repair my car yesterday. - get + person + to + inf.
I got a mechanic to repair my car yesterday.
Passive form
- have/get + object + p.p.
She is getting her eyes checked now.
I had my car fixed yesterday.
make · let · allow
- make — someone or a situation forced someone else to do something.
My mother makes Sama tidy her room. - let / allow — someone has permission to do something.
Mr. Nasser sometimes lets Asmaa go for walks.
Mr. Nasser sometimes allows Asmaa to go for walks.

get + to
After get + person, use to + infinitive: She got her brother to help — not "help" alone.
